A young boy's struggle with a horrible skin disease has come to an end.

Tripp Roth, age 2, of Ponchatoula, La., has lost his devastating struggle against junctional epidermolysis bullosa.

:-( Two years and 8 months old....

The boy was diagnosed shortly after birth and was not expected to live beyond his first year. But with the loving care provided by his mother, Courtney, the toddler outlived medical projections.

Tripp died in his mother's arms on Saturday.
