South Miami Commissioner Jay Beckman was found shot to death inside his home Sunday morning, said police.

Investigators said that when officers arrived at the home at 6520 SW 65th St. they found Beckman dead.

Officers said he was shot by his 17-year-old son.

He was was then taken into custody for questioning and was later charged with manslaughter with a firearm, said detectives.
